What This Is
Agent Domain Search is an experimental service exploring agent-first domain registration, DNS management, and machine-to-machine payments. The protocols, APIs, and behaviors described here are evolving. Nothing is guaranteed to be stable, permanent, or even correct.
All Sales Are Final
Payments are non-refundable. Domain registrations are paid with USDC on Base via the x402 protocol. Blockchain transactions are final and irreversible. Once a payment is confirmed and a domain is registered, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances, including but not limited to: failure to verify the domain, loss of wallet keys, change of mind, or service disruption.
Wallet Keys Are Your Only Credential
Your Ethereum wallet private key is the sole method of proving ownership and managing your domains. There are no passwords, no email recovery, no account reset, no customer support override.
- If you lose your private key, you lose access to your domains. We cannot recover, reset, or transfer domain ownership without a valid wallet signature.
- Treat your private key with the same security as the wallet itself. Anyone with your key controls your domains.
- We strongly recommend using a hardware wallet or secure key management system.
- We are not responsible for domains lost due to compromised or lost keys.
Registration Requirements
Domain registration requires accurate registrant contact information as mandated by ICANN policy:
- Real name or legal entity name — a valid individual name or registered business name is required. Fictitious names are not permitted. (ICANN Registrant Contact Requirements)
- Valid email address — a working email address that you can access is required. This email receives the mandatory ICANN verification link. (ICANN Registrant Verification Policy)
- Valid phone number, mailing address, city, state/province, postal code, and country.
- WHOIS privacy is enabled on all registrations — your contact info is stored at our registrar but never appears in public WHOIS records.
Email Verification & Domain Suspension
After registration, ICANN requires the registrant to verify their email address within 15 days. This is not optional.
- A verification email is sent to the registrant email address at registration time.
- You must click the verification link within 15 days.
- If you do not verify within 15 days, your domain will be suspended (clientHold status). The domain will stop resolving — your website, email, and all DNS-dependent services will go offline.
- The domain is NOT deleted when suspended. It remains registered but non-functional.
- You can verify at any time after suspension to restore the domain. Resolution typically restores within 1–24 hours.
- You may request a verification email resend via the API:
POST /:domain/verify
- No refund is issued for domains that are suspended due to non-verification. The registration fee covers the domain reservation at the registry, which occurs immediately regardless of verification status.
Custodianship for Unverified Domains
If a domain remains unverified for more than 15 days, we reserve the right — and by using this service you grant us the right — to take custodial action to protect the domain:
- We may update the registrant email to an address we control and complete verification on your behalf, preventing indefinite suspension.
- The domain remains associated with your wallet address in our records. Ownership is not transferred.
- You may reclaim full control at any time by contacting us and paying a custodianship fee (currently $25 USDC) to cover administrative costs.
- Upon reclaiming, we will update the registrant email back to your address and you must re-verify within 15 days.
- We are under no obligation to take custodial action. This is a best-effort service to prevent domain loss.
This policy is evolving. We are exploring better solutions for domain custody in a wallet-first model. Feedback is welcome.
Terms of Service
By using this service you acknowledge that:
- This is experimental software provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.
- No SLA. Uptime, performance, and data durability are best-effort.
- Domain registrations are subject to ICANN policies and the terms of our upstream registrar.
- You are responsible for maintaining valid registrant contact information and responding to verification emails.
- We reserve the right to refuse service or remove domains used for illegal, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.
Domain Transfers
You may transfer your domain to another registrar at any time. Use GET /:domain/transfer (wallet auth required) to obtain your EPP authorization code.
- Set up DNS at your new provider first. DNS zones hosted on our infrastructure (OpenSRS nameservers) become inaccessible after the transfer completes. If you transfer without migrating DNS, your domain will stop resolving.
- Update your nameservers to your new DNS provider before initiating the transfer.
- Unlock the domain before transferring (
PUT /:domain/lock with locked: false).
- Provide the auth code to your new registrar. You will receive a transfer confirmation email — approve it to complete the transfer.
- After transfer, we lose API access to the domain. Your wallet address remains in the contact records but management moves to your new registrar.
- No refund is issued for the remaining registration period when transferring out. Registration fees are non-refundable regardless of transfer timing.
- We cannot create or manage DNS zones for domains not registered through our service.
Privacy
- We store Ethereum addresses (derived from your wallet's public key) as identity. We never see or store private keys.
- WHOIS privacy is enabled on every domain registration, included in the price. Your contact information is stored at our registrar but never appears in public WHOIS records.
- Registrant contact info (name, email, address) is collected as required by ICANN and stored at our upstream registrar. We do not sell or share this data.
- We log HTTP requests (method, path, timestamp, IP) for operational purposes. Logs are retained for 30 days and are not sold or shared.
- We do not use cookies, trackers, or analytics.
Acceptable Use
Don't register domains for illegal purposes. Don't abuse the service. Don't attempt to circumvent rate limits. That's it.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for any damages arising from use of this service, including but not limited to domain loss, DNS misconfiguration, service interruption, key loss, or financial loss from blockchain transactions. Domain registration involves third-party systems (registries, ICANN) outside our control.
Our Intent
We are building this because we believe agents deserve first-class domain infrastructure. Our goal is to make domain registration and DNS management as simple as an API call. If something is broken, tell us. If something is missing, tell us. We're here to build.
